Autumn brings a pop of “wow” to the Sierras.

“Watercolor Magic.” A soft late afternoon cast of light dapples the water like a paintbrush and watercolor palette in this photo of fall colors in the Eastern Sierras.
My perception of falling off a mountain as a kid.
But the kid in me says those rugged Sierras look like they come to a sharp point on top.

For the love to trees...
Visualize the rugged and beautiful scenery of fall colors in the Sierras.

Jagged peaks towering above, a flow of orange aspens moving down a ravine, and a mist rising from North Lake dwarf a photographer in the marsh.

Fanning out from a ravine, a grove of aspens in full fall color seems like liquid running down the mountainside.

The water in North Lake reflects the brilliant colors of a lava stream of aspens headed towards its shoreline.

Curious about what Bill was shooting? You’ve got it, that eye-popping color streaming down the mountainside. And he captured it stunningly.

The sun is setting, and it’s getting dark.
Will we find more fall colors in the Sierras tomorrow?

If you are visiting the Sierra's for fall color...
Take a look at Bodie Ghost Town. It’s worth the side trip.
Love this?

Wow these photos are so vivid and beautiful. We will be driving through Colorado on our way back to Arizona next week. Ridgline to Telluride then on to Flagstaff. I can’t wait to see the beautiful colors!!! Hope to see you soon, Gail
Oh, so hopeful for you. Colorado has had some excellent color and weather to give a lot of contrast. Safe travels!
